Stella Artois

The first recorded history of Stella Artois is in 1366, when records of taxes exist on Leuven's Den Horen Brewery, a brewery that is still in existence today. In 1708, Sebastian Artois became the master brewer at Den Horen, and gave his name to the brewery in 1717.

In 1926, Stella Artois was launched initially as a seasonal beer especially for the Christmas holiday market and it was such a commercial success that the brand became available year round. It was named "Stella", Latin for "star", from the star of Christmas, and Artois, after Sebastian Artois, founder of the brewery. Although Belgium is best known internationally for its ales, the so-called "table beers," the bottom-fermented pilsner lagers such as Stella Artois head the list for domestic consumption, making up almost 75% of Belgian beer production. No matter where in the world, consumers can count on a great experience when they order Stella Artois as it is distributed in more than 80 countries.

Stella Artois is brewed using only the finest natural ingredients – water, barley malt, hops, non-malted grains and Stella Artois’ unique yeast strain – a much-cherished secret that has been kept throughout the years. Stella Artois contains 5.0% alcohol by volume (ABV). Stella Artois is a classic Belgian lager, golden in colour with exceptional clarity and a spicy hop character.

Stella Artois is a type of high quality bottom fermented pilsner lager. It is brewed to perfection using the original Stella Artois yeast and only the best ingredient like the celebrated Saaz hops. It is the optimum premium lager, brewed using only natural ingredients and the same process of mixing and fermenting as in the old days, with its full flavor and clean, crisp taste. The result is a distinctive and recognizable taste, character, crispness. The slight bitterness creates a unique taste differentiation versus other premium lagers present in the global market place. In addition, when paired with the beautiful chalice, “perfect glass", it provides functional and emotional experience as it enhances head retention and flavor and extends the coldness of the beer.
sweet finish.
